Analyzing Font Trends in the Latest Advertisements
CF (Commercial Film) advertisements quickly incorporate the latest trends to capture consumers’ attention and generate interest. There are two prominent features frequently seen in the fonts and lettering used in these ads. We’ll discuss the fonts used in advertisements, similar fonts, and fonts that can be easily modified to achieve a similar look. So, stay focused!
Curved Fonts
This feature is characterized by fonts that have a generally curved appearance or lettering where the characters and curves are naturally connected in a decorative manner. This style is often used in a wide range of product advertisements, giving a light and handwritten feel by connecting strokes between letters. Some fonts similar to this style, with curved points in specific consonants, include:
• TSC Black Diamonds
• TSC Bonjour Sans
• Dain Bubble Bubble
• HS San Rabbit
By using these fonts, you can create designs that resonate with the latest trends seen in CF advertisements.
March 2023: “Chum Churum” - ‘Softly Leaving Only Joy’ Advertisement
A CF that uses fonts with stronger curved decorations as a point and mixes them with fonts that have good readability is also impressive. Strong curved decorations increase individuality and attention but can reduce readability. Mixing them can compensate for this and make the design look more new and distinctive. However, due to the significant difference in the number of glyphs between Latin and Hangul, it is not easy to find such fonts in Hangul. Therefore, we recommend fonts that are good for modification in the video.

Fonts Utilizing Dots and Circles
The second characteristic is fonts or lettering that incorporate dot embellishments. These can be expressed through strokes made of dots or strokes ending in dots. Some advertisements feature both styles. For instance, in the Lotte Zero commercial, you can see how “Sandoll Gaehwa” has been modified to highlight the main copy with strokes transformed into dots. Similar fonts that are good for such transformations include “Tlab The Classic,” “DX Hazelnut,” “Sandoll Danpatppang,” and “Bagel Fat.”
May 2023: Lotte Zero - “Always Deliciously Zero”
June 2023: Caribbean Bay - “This is How to Have Fun in the Summer, Cabbage!”
There are advertisements for Caribbean Bay and Domino’s Pizza that utilize dots at both the strokes and the ends. Caribbean Bay emphasizes water droplets, while Domino’s Pizza uses dots to evoke the image of cheese. These graphical elements enhance the visual appeal and thematic relevance of the ads. For fonts that feature rounded stroke ends, please refer to the video for detailed recommendations!
