Tsukushi Gothic has been developed based on design consistency with the Tsukushi Mincho family released in 2003. It is used in a wide range of applications such as books, magazines, catalogs, and leaflets, with an emphasis on textures to meet the needs of those demanding a high level of quality. The eight-weight Gothic family is designed to provide optimal expression for text, captions, and subheadings as well as major headings. The Tsukushi Gothic type style blends modern sharpness and clean hardness with classic flavor and softness, giving the viewer an orthodox yet fresh look. While emphasizing the "homogeneity and uniformity" that is the mainstream of modern typeface design, it does not lose sight of the fact that "letters are conceived and created while being written by hand," and like Tsukushi Mincho, the movement of the hand in "writing" is expressed honestly in the letters themselves. The visible movement of "writing" is the source of the expressive power of the basic typeface's mission of "vividly highlighting the meaning of the text". Tsukushi Gothic was born from a reexamination of the fundamentals of design, such as the mission and role of the gothic typeface, which can express the modern age in the act of creating, using, and reading typefaces.
