Q. Welcome! Could you introduce to SandollCloud users?

Hello. is a brand that specializes not only in font design but also in typography localization, including UX design, motion graphics, and more. We primarily collaborate with global service websites, professional agencies, and domestic large corporations.

 

 

Q. How did you get started with font design?

It all started with a lettering project in SVG format, which sparked my interest in font design. Since then, I've been designing various styles of fonts, not only conventional ones but also SVG color fonts, SVG scripts, variable fonts, and more.

 

 

Q. I have a question for a Korean designer who specializes in designing Latin fonts. Is there a specific reason why you mainly work on Latin fonts rather than Korean fonts? Also, I'm curious about the media you usually draw inspiration from when designing Latin fonts.

There isn't a specific reason, but I believe I can improve my Latin design skills than Korean fonts. I also consider it meaningful to specialize in designing and disseminating Latin fonts that can express the sensibilities of Korean. Personally, I often browse through international font markets and UX reference sites for inspiration in font design. Particularly, I frequently explore prototype sites related to Figma, where I find a lot of helpful resources for my work.

 

 

Q. I heard that you've collaborated on numerous projects with both domestic and international companies. Could you introduce any projects you've worked on?

I'd like to introduce the "Along Serif BSC," which is applied in projects such as the Hyundai L&C brand site and technical documentations. Hyundai L&C is a company that produces and sells environmentally friendly interior products based on design. They required a headline font that suits their high-quality brand. To meet this demand, the "Along Serif BSC" was developed, incorporating a classic serif structure with sophisticated italic styles to express the characteristics and strengths of their products. This font is not only used in web UI areas like webinar services, online streaming, and brand sites(Link) but also in offline documents.

 

 

Q. It's quite impressive to see your work utilized by major domestic corporations. Throughout your years of work, there must have been challenging points to ponder. What's the aspect you primarily contemplate when designing fonts?

It could be a common dilemma shared among most font designers, which revolves around the direction of font structure balancing between creativity and familiarity. With the shift towards online-based isplay channels as the primary font usage platform, recent typograpy trends emphasize keywords like boldness and impact. Therefore, the challenge lies in maintaining a font structure that expresses creativity while retaining familiarity.

 

 

Q. I look forward to exploring new fonts born from such thoughts. Among the fonts available at SandollCloud, which one is your particularly recommended font?

I would recommend the recently updated "Aleesya Rose" font. It possesses a unique sensibility with delicate and elegant touches and high stroke contrast. Especially notable is its ligature, which may be unfamiliar in Korean fonts but is expected to broaden designers' layout choices. This font, also featured and available on the US online service 'Greenvelope'(Link), boasts its distinctive personality, making it useful for various tasks like headlines and branding designs.

 

 

 

Q. It's you first time joining the Korean font platform, SandollCloud. I have a feeling that your fonts will be warmly welcomed by Korean users as well. Lastly, could you say a word to SandollCloud users welcoming ?

As mentioned earlier, I hope 's fonts are recognized for embodying the results of deliberation on challenges and responses in font design. Despite seeming familiar, when actually used, they exude a refreshing energy.
